Doomsday Clock is a 2017 superhero comic book limited series published by DC Comics, serving as a sequel to Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. The series also represents the conclusion of the DC Rebirth campaign, and is being written by chief creative officer Geoff Johns with art from penciller Gary Frank and colorist Brad Anderson.

Background
Doomsday Clock is part of the DC Rebirth line of comics and continues the narrative established with 2016's one-shot DC Universe: Rebirth Special #1 and 2017's crossovers "The Button" and "Superman Reborn". The miniseries will also introduce characters from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' seminal work Watchmen (1986-1987) into the DC Universe. The series was revealed on May 14, 2017, with a teaser image displaying the Superman logo in the 12 o'clock slot of the clock depicted in Watchmen and the series title in the bold typeface used for Watchmen. Doomsday Clock will feature twelve issues releasing over a year-long period beginning on November 22, 2017.
The story will include many DC characters but has a particular focus on Superman and Doctor Manhattan. Johns felt like there was an interesting story to be told in "DC Rebirth" with Doctor Manhattan. He thought there was an interesting dichotomy between Superman--an alien who embodies and is compassionate for humanity--and Doctor Manhattan--a human who has detached himself from humanity. This led to over six months of debates amongst the creative team about whether to intersect the Watchmen universe with the DC Universe. He explained that Doomsday Clock was the "most personal and most epic, utterly mind-bending project" that he had worked on in his career.

Story
On November 22, 1992 (seven years after the events of Watchmen), Ozymandias's plan for peace has failed after the details of Rorschach's journal were exposed. Consequently, Ozymandias is now the most wanted man in the world. The United States of America is on the brink of war with Russia and American citizens have been ordered to evacuate their cities. As preparations for nuclear war begin, Rorschach breaks into a prison to retrieve a woman named Erika Manson, also known as the Marionette, and her husband Marcos Maez, also known as the Mime. Erika discovers that this Rorschach is not Walter Kovacs, but a successor. Rorschach takes them to the lair of Nite Owl II and introduces them to his partner Ozymandias, who reveals he is dying of cancer. He offers the couple the location of their son and $200 million if they help him locate Doctor Manhattan. Elsewhere in another reality, Clark Kent is having a dream about his parents Jonathan and Martha Kent. He relives the night they died in a car crash caused by a drunk driver. His wife Lois wakes him, concerned, as she cannot remember the last time Clark had a nightmare and Clark states he does not think he has ever had one.
